How to collect email addresses from your Instagram followers
Instagram does not give you your followers' email addresses, so you have to ask. Offer a reason — a free PDF, a webinar seat, a waitlist — send people to a page with one short form, and mention it in every post. On Pullsy Store the sign-up page is free; comment-to-DM is on the paid Store plan.

Your reach on Instagram is decided by Instagram. An email list is the part of your audience you can reach on your own terms — for a launch, a webinar or a new product — and nobody can turn its reach down.
The funnel, step by step
- Give people a reason. Nobody signs up for "updates". They sign up for a specific thing: a checklist, a template, a seat at a free class, a place on a waitlist.
- Put one short form on one page. A name and an email, nothing else. Every extra field costs sign-ups.
- Link it from your bio, and say so in every post. People who have followed you for a year still do not know what is in your bio.
- Let commenters skip the bio. A comment-to-DM rule sends the link to everyone who comments a keyword, which catches the people who would never have tapped through to your profile.
- Export the list and use it. Download the addresses and send from the email tool you prefer — and send what you said you would.
| Step | What you need | On Pullsy Store | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. A reason | A PDF, a webinar, a waitlist | A Digital download, a Webinar or an Email capture product | Free |
| 2. A page with a form | One form, one page | Your storefront, or a landing page with its own address | Free |
| 3. The bio link | A link that does not change | pullsy.store/@your-handle | Free |
| 4. Comment-to-DM | An Instagram professional account | Auto-DM, up to 100 DMs an hour per account | Store plan, ₹1,299/month |
| 5. The list | Somewhere to send from | Customers → download as CSV | Free; the sending tool is separate |
What should the reason be?
- A free download — the most common, because it is useful the moment it arrives. Keep it short: a one-page checklist gets opened, a 60-page ebook gets saved and forgotten.
- A free webinar seat — a registration is an email address with a date attached, and the people who sign up for a live class are the warmest names on any list.
- A waitlist — for something you are making. It doubles as a test: if nobody joins the waitlist, you have learned something cheaply.
- A custom request form — for creators who do paid work. The brief arrives with an email address on it.
Where do sign-ups get lost?
- The bio link goes to a list of ten things. Someone who came for the checklist has to find it. Put the thing you are promoting first, or link straight to its own page.
- The form asks for too much. Phone number, city, Instagram handle, how did you hear about us — each one is a reason to close the tab.
- The post never says where to go. "Link in bio" in the last line of a long caption is easy to miss; say it in the first line, or on the image.
- Nothing arrives. If the download or the confirmation does not land straight away, people assume it is broken and do not come back. Test your own form from your phone before the post goes out.
What do you do with the list?
Send people what they signed up for, then something useful at a pace you can keep. Tell them on the sign-up page what you will send and roughly how often, and do not add them to a newsletter they did not ask for. A small list that opens your email is worth more than a large one that marks it as spam.
Pullsy Store collects the addresses and lets you download them as a CSV from Customers. It does not send newsletters or broadcasts, so the sending happens in whichever email tool you already use or choose.
Worth asking before you move 🤔
Can I see the email addresses of my Instagram followers?
No. Instagram does not share followers' email addresses with the accounts they follow. A business account can show a contact button with your own email, but to get theirs you have to ask, usually by offering something in exchange.
What is the best lead magnet for Instagram followers?
Something short and immediately useful that matches what your posts are about: a checklist, a template, a recipe card or a seat at a free live class. The closer it is to your most-saved posts, the more people sign up.
Can I collect emails from Instagram for free?
Yes. Pullsy Store's Free plan includes email capture and email-gated downloads, with up to 5 products on your page. Only comment-to-DM, which sends the link to people who comment a keyword, needs the paid Store plan.
Does Pullsy Store send newsletters to my list?
No. It collects the addresses and lets you download them as a CSV from Customers. It sends the confirmation email for a download or a registration, but not newsletters or broadcasts, so you send from the email tool of your choice.
How do I get Instagram commenters onto my email list?
Use a comment-to-DM rule that sends a link to a page with an email form, rather than to the bare file. The DM alone tells you nothing about the person; the form is where the email address comes from.
